Realising that the conventional food decomposition method is not only time-consuming but also not sustainable, Wee launched the WormingUp (Fly Technology Agriculture Sdn Bhd), a social enterprise that addresses an environmental issue which is food waste and aims to reduce food waste ended up at landfill sites.

 

Food waste accumulated at landfill sites produce methane gas and toxic leachate that can cause to several environmental problems. Likewise, food waste represents a recyclable nutrient source which should not be wasted by dumping it at landfill.

 

The company raises the awareness of food waste in Kuching, donates surplus food to the needy, recycles food waste through decomposition and upcycling inedible food waste into high quality bio-protein to achieve sustainability of environment by providing daily food waste collection with a proper segregation management and breeding insects (maggots). The project won the Startup Weekend Kuching award in 2015.
